If you saw Die Hard 4 (Live Free or Die Hard), you know what a fire sale is, in terms of a cyber attack.
CNN.com features a video of an AC360 story about the possibility of such an event. Saying that a prolonged power outtage to 1/3 of the US would be like having 50 hurricanes hit (based on the area affected, I would guess).
It’s great that everything has become so convenient and (inter)netted together that even destroying our infastructure is able to be done with the click of a mouse.
…as Halo 3 is released today. Very similar to when the Star Wars movies were released, expect for stories in the media to announce that hundreds of thousands of American (single male) workers called in sick today due to the release of Halo 3.
While I do not own an XBox or XBox 360, I can tell you that having only played the original Halo for 30 minutes, the game kicks ass.
I have been a Netflix subscriber for almost 4 years now (that long? wow). Occassionally they send me email promotions and coupon codes to share with people for 1 or 2 free weeks trials. This one is much better, 1 Month of Netflix for Free! So, I will share with all of you in FuzzMartin.com-land. Oh, I think this is only good for non-Netflix subscribers.

This is just too friggin’ sweet! I am not a big “gamer.” In fact, I own an xbox, but the last time I played it was over 6 months ago, and that was only because I was trying to entertain Tracy’s son. I may, however, be in the market for Guitar Hero for Mac. If you’ve never played Guitar Hero, you totally don’t know what you’ve been missing. Hell, my MOM and her boyfriend bought a Playstation II just so that they could play GH! Yeah… it’s that cool.
Okay… I really wish that I had the extra funds to go blow on a product that I don’t really need right now, because I would TOTALLY be hooking myself up with a new iPod Touch. Yeah… it’s an iPhone without the phone part. Of course, Apple just dropped the price on the iPhone by TWO-HUNDRED DOLLARS, so you can buy the smaller iPhone (4gb) for the same price as an 8gb iPhone iPod Touch ($299).
Apple also released a new iPod Nano, which now plays video. They’re fugly. That’s all I’m saying.
Over the weekend I decided to mess around with a trial version of Adobe Lightroom. It is an amazingly fast way to make quick edits and color corrections on RAW photo files, and then export them to jpeg for my stock photo adventures. I think that I am in love. Seriously… if Lightroom was a woman, I’d be at Kessler’s right now looking at diamonds. Large, flawless, color-corrected diamonds.
What?!? Can you believe I am posting something about a Microserf product?Â
While I am an Apple fanboy, I have to say that the Microsoft Surface just about made me “drop my pants and shoot a rocket” (to use a FuzzMartin.com quotable). This things looks SO awesome…
The real questions are:
1) Where is Apple’s competative product (they probably have one, I just don’t know the name)
2) How much do they owe Pizza-Hut for stealing the concept of their sit-down Donkey Kong games?
The new iMacs are out. They look great, they’re slimmer, and they’re faster, but they’re just not portable enough for me. Give me a Mac tablet, and then they might have me sold on something new. Until then, my trusty MacBook Pro and I are inseparable.
My website was down for a little bit this morning. The worst part about it was that when it was down, my ISP cached the site, so I couldn’t see the site once it was back up and running. I felt so naked.
…and not that good kinda naked.
Anyway… it’s fixed… but if you’re reading this, you know that already.
This is a pretty cool graphic showing the evolution of Apple Computer, iPod, Newton, iPhone, and other items. Steve Jobs probably has one in his office!Â
I started using Netflix in 2003 after a friend gave me a gift certificate for my birthday. At first, I ripped through dozens of movies a month (3 at a time)…eventually slowing down to almost watching less than 3 a month.Â
Now that I have a little one that likes to get up early and lay next to Daddy (and will sleep consistently) I have been using Netflix more regularly. What has made my already positive view of Netflix even better is their “watch online” feature. You can select from a large list of moderate to decent movies and view them online. The great part is that if you stop in the middle for whatever reason, Netflix remembers where you were in the movie and when you come back to watch, it’s cued up right to that spot.
The only downer is that they currently only support PCs for watching movies.
Hallelujah! Steve Jobs and the boys released a public beta of their Safari web browser (version 3) that now runs on Windows as well as Mac! I am a big fan of the browser, however, I have been pretty much been using Firefox as my default Mac browser lately because WordPress (my CMS of choice) didn’t have a WYSIWYG editor for Safari until the latest version was released.
Glossary (for you non-geeks) WordPress: The software that I use to write my posts. It is actually what you are looking at right now. CMS: Content Management System - WordPress is a form of a CMS. WYSIWYG: “What You See Is What You Get” - kind of like typing with Microsoft Word. I can highlight words and make them bold or italicized without having to actually “code” it. Without a WYSIWYG system, I’d have to write everything in code, and while that’s not all that hard, it’s easier to just click a button and let the software do it for you.
Yesterday, I purchased a new Apple computer. Starting June 5, Apple is offering a promotion that says “College students can get a free iPod” with the purchase of a new computer. If you really want an Apple computer and an iPod, don’t let this pass you by. The offer allows for any staff/faculty/student in any education arena, K-12 and college…including school board members. This very inclusive offer is great. I bought a new computer (with the educational discount) and received $199 towards a new iPod (you don’t have to just buy the Nano, like it says, you can apply your money towards a video iPod, like I did). And to sweeten the deal, for the next couple weeks, Apple is also running a promotion that gives you $100 rebate on select printers from their online store.  Jump on these deals while their are overlapping and available!
Your DSL comment reminded me of these sweet Comcast commercials…and since Milwaukee is all Charter, I doubt you would mind me putting up this funny commercial (Comcast or no).
