1001 Albums

Friday, May 26th, 2006 by Claude

I recently discovered this book:

1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die by Robert Dimery.

I have decided to listen to 1 album off of this list each day at work, in attempts to “complete” the book. Thankfully, I have many of the albums from the 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s. The ones from the 50’s-70’s may pose some financial / library card challenges.

Keep your eyes out for my postings about what albums I have listened to, short reviews and my favorite songs on each album.

Wish me luck, 1 Albums / Day (a 5 day work week) = 3.8 years.

Fahrenheit 451

Sunday, May 14th, 2006 by Claude

When I was in high school and college I really cheated myself in terms of literature that I read. Often, I would choose the shortest book on the required reading lists. Because of this, I have discovered that I missed out on a lot of great books.
Recently, I started to purchase “classic” and “modern classic” books to read. Last night I finished reading Fahrenheit 451. This is a great book, even more-so was the afterword written by Ray Bradbury about the “carving” of books/stories to make them fit into shorter publications.

Check it out, it is a great book about censorship and they way societies shift/change/think.

Stay tuned for more of my book postings, although they will be a while coming, as I am a slow reader :)
