A Hard On For “Recession”

Since the word, “recession,” is a technically specific one, we are not able to truly say that we are in a recession, just yet. The news media, really wants us to be, though. I have this odd hunch that there will be a bunch of guys in a news pool cheering, popping champagne, and slapping each other on the ass once we are finally official.

I’m no economist, but in order for us to just move on and start repairing the market, I propose that the fed chair, Ben Bernanke, hold a surprise press conference today declaring that we are officially in a recession.

The stock market will falter and the news guys will have their celebratory circle jerk, but at least we’ll be able to start rebuilding.

Of course, the reason for the media’s excitement for a “recession” is so that they can further whack each other off over how bad of a president Bush II is/was. If a Democrat is elected in November, I predict that the news media will be talking about an economic turnaround by March of next year. If McCain is elected, I am still willing to bet that he is greeted with a wet, yet not as tonguey, kiss.
