Dear Faith Healers

The story of the little girl who died at the hands of her “faith-healer” parents makes me sick. Here are my thoughts on those types of people:

Asking God to heal you is fine, I’ll agree with that. However, when you turn down His help, you’re being selfish in the highest regard. He gave doctors and nurses the knowledge to heal you. Rejecting His help in hopes that He’ll perform some other miracle is downright ungenerous. Yes, in cases where doctors can’t fix you, you’re going to have to pray for a higher miracle, but if He has already granted you the miracle you need to be fixed - don’t look a gift doctor in the mouth.

We are having a speaker come to our church in May who will be talking about Healing. Dr. Mark Pearson talks about the combined use of medicine, counseling, and prayer, and how to properly use each in relation to each other. I’ve never had the chance to hear him speak so I’m hoping I can go for part of it at least.
